Behind the new custom gate entrance is an all-weather road leading down to the ranch’s building improvements. The habitat consists of mostly heavy South Texas brush with scattered mature live oak trees mixed in. The Dry Medio Creek meanders along the north side of the ranch and offers a habitat unlike other parts of the ranch. The majority of the tree and brush species consist of mesquite, blackbrush, colima, huisache, and live oak trees. The current owner has selectively cleared around many of the mature live oaks, opening up the landscape and enhancing views throughout the property. In addition, motte-style brush areas have been established to provide premium cover and habitat for quail, while several open fields have been created to allow for seasonal planting. Some select areas have already been planted in native grass seed to increase grass and forage diversity for the wildlife. The road system provides outstanding access throughout the entire ranch. The ranch has also not had cattle in some time, and the grass is recovering very well, even in the current drought. Wildlife in this area consists of white-tailed deer, Rio Grande turkey, javelina, and feral hogs. The bird hunting in this area can be excellent for mourning and white-wing dove, especially around the ponds. Due to the strong surface water and improved habitat, bobwhite quail hunting has been exceptional as well. The ranch also comes furnished with four new 5’x7’ metal tower blinds and four new stand-and-fill corn feeders.
